Agribusiness
A Brief History of
Agribusiness Study Program
In line with the restructuring of study programs carried out by the Directorate General of Higher Education, the Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education, Universitas Islam Riau has also made fundamental changes in the learning system, from teacher-centered learning to student-centered learning. With this policy change, all study programs at Universitas Islam Riau, including the Agribusiness Study Program, must adapt. Additionally, labor market demands have also contributed to the need for curriculum adjustments.
Currently, the job market for Agribusiness alumni continues to face significant challenges. The requirements of the job market continuously demand higher education institutions to produce graduates with high competencies. The logical consequence of the restructuring of study programs, university policy changes, and job market demands is the need for reconstruction of competencies and the knowledge base in the Agribusiness Study Program.
Welcoming the 2016/2017 Academic Year, the end of the 2012/2013 curriculum, and considering the challenges faced, it was deemed necessary to review the 2012/2013 curriculum, which would subsequently result in the 2016/2017 curriculum based on the Indonesian National Qualifications Framework (KKNI) and valid until 2020/2021. The curriculum development process was based on the guidelines for competency-based curriculum development by the Directorate General of Higher Education in 2008.
