Faculty of Agriculture, Islamic University of Riau (UIR) was established in 1977, by developing three departments/study programs namely Department of Agricultural Cultivation / Agronomy Study Program, Department of Agricultural Social Economics / Agricultural Social Economics Study Program and Department of Fisheries / Aquaculture Study Program. All study programs owned by the Faculty of Agriculture have been accredited by the National Accreditation Board (BAN). The Agrotechnology Study Program is accredited with the Decree of the National Accreditation Board of Higher Education No. 013/BAN-PT/AK-SUV-i/SI/IX2009 dated September 11, 2009. The Agribusiness Study Program was accredited, with National Accreditation Agency Decree No. 008/BAN-PT/AK-IX/S1/VI/2005 dated June 23, 2005, and the Aquaculture Study Program, with National Accreditation Agency Decree No.009/BAN-PT/AK-IX/2006. However, with the issuance of the Decree in 2008, regarding the change of name, for the Department of Agricultural Cultivation, the Agronomy Study Program became the Agrotechnology Study Program and the Department of Agricultural Social Economics became the Agribusiness Study Program.

Based on BAN-PT Decree No. 3391/SK/BAN-PT/Akred/S.1/X/2017, stating that the Agribusiness Undergraduate Study Program, Riau Islamic University, Pekanbaru is accredited with an A rating, which is valid until September 12, 2022. The Aquaculture Study Program also obtained the same accreditation grade of A with BA-PT Decree No. 2994/SK/BAN-PT/Akred/ S/VIII/2017 with a validity period until August 22, 2022.

Through the hard work of the academic community of Faculty of Agriculture UIR, on May 28, 2014, the Agrotechnology Undergraduate Study Program of Islamic University of Riau, Pekanbaru was accredited with an A accreditation rating. This is in accordance with BAN-PT accreditation certificate No. 2035/SK/BAN-PT/Akred/S/VI/2019 and is valid until June 25, 2024.
The existence of the Faculty of Agriculture in the midst of society, especially in Riau Province in general, aims to help improve human resources in the field of agriculture in a broad sense and to answer the challenges and opportunities for the development of an agricultural sector oriented towards agribusiness and aquabusiness.
