Agrotechnology

A Brief History of

Agrotechnology

In line with the restructuring of study programs carried out by the Directorate General of Higher Education, the Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education, Universitas Islam Riau has also made changes in the learning system from Teacher Learning Center (teacher-centered learning) to Student Learning Center (student-centered learning). This method can encompass personality, intelligence, professionalism, skills, adaptability, and creativity.

In 2012, the government issued Presidential Regulation No. 08 of 2012 concerning the Indonesian National Qualifications Framework (KKNI) and Law No. 12 of 2012 on Higher Education, which impacted the curriculum and its management in each study program. The curriculum, which initially referred to competency achievement, became learning outcomes, thus changing the perspective on someone’s competence to a nationally agreed qualification framework as the basis for broadly accountable and transparent recognition of someone’s educational results.

Welcoming the 2016/2017 Academic Year, the end of the 2012 curriculum, and considering the challenges faced, it was deemed necessary to review the 2012/2013 curriculum, which would subsequently result in the 2016/2017 curriculum based on the Indonesian National Qualifications Framework (KKNI) and valid until 2020/2021.

The development and preparation of the curriculum in the Agrotechnology Study Program were carried out by participating in FKPTPI seminars and workshops in Malang in 2012 and in Yogyakarta in 2016, involving faculty/program study leaders. Subsequent activities included meetings with academic staff, stakeholders, and the study program development team at the Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Islam Riau.
