Agriculture is the cornerstone of global food security. In recent decades, rapid population growth, climate change, land degradation, and recurring food crises have posed major challenges to traditional agricultural systems. To ensure food availability for both present and future generations, new approaches that emphasize innovation, sustainability, and efficiency are urgently needed. These challenges can be addressed through innovative, collaborative, and sustainable strategies in developing the agriculture of the future. Research, technology, and policy play a crucial role in shaping the direction of sustainable and resilient agricultural development.

Food security is not only about ensuring sufficient quantity, but also concerns accessibility, nutritional quality, and distribution stability. Strengthening global agricultural systems has therefore become a strategic and urgent agenda, requiring collaboration among researchers, technology experts, local farmers, governments, and the private sector. As part of the effort to enhance international collaboration in agriculture, the Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Islam Riau, proudly presents The 2nd International Conference on Agricultural Strategy for Sustainability (ICASS), to be held on October 22, 2025, in Pekanbaru, Indonesia. This conference carries the theme: “Advancing Global Agriculture: Innovation, Sustainability, and Food Security.”

The 2nd ICASS 2025 will serve as an important platform for researchers, academics, policymakers, and industry professionals to share scientific knowledge, present the latest research findings, and discuss strategies and innovations relevant to the future of global agriculture. With a focus on key topics such as Sustainable Agriculture and Food Security, Agronomy, Biotechnology and Bioindustry, Smart Farming and Agricultural Innovation, Aquaculture, Aquatic Ecology, Biodiversity and Conservation, Agricultural Economics, Agribusiness, Climate Adaptation and Environmental Sustainability, Halal Food Industry, and Plant Protection, the conference aims to address interdisciplinary challenges related to safe, efficient, and environmentally friendly food production.

Through this forum, the 2nd ICASS 2025 is expected to foster strong collaboration among institutions and nations in strengthening global food security and accelerating the adoption of technology and innovation toward sustainable agricultural systems. Furthermore, it is anticipated that the 2nd ICASS 2025 will contribute significantly to achieving food self-sufficiency and food stability in Indonesia and across the globe.
