Universitas Islam Riau (UIR) was founded on September 4, 1962, by the Islamic Education Foundation of Riau (YLPI Riau) with the mission to expand higher education rooted in Islamic values in Riau Province. Initially opening with a few faculties, UIR has grown into the largest private university in Riau, now comprising more than nine faculties and a postgraduate program. UIR remains committed to producing excellent graduates with strong Islamic character and contributing to the development of the region, the nation, and the wider community.
