Agriculture is one of the most vital sectors for human survival, ensuring food supply and supporting global development. However, rapid population growth, climate change, land degradation, and repeated food crises have created unprecedented challenges for agricultural systems worldwide. Addressing these complex issues requires new approaches based on innovation, sustainability, and efficiency.

In this context, agriculture must be transformed to remain resilient, sustainable, and capable of securing food for present and future generations. Research, technology, and policy must align to promote effective solutions. Food security is no longer limited to production capacity, but also involves fair access, nutritional quality, and stable distribution systems. Building strong agricultural systems is a global priority, requiring collaboration among researchers, policymakers, farmers, industries, and communities.

Responding to these challenges, the Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Islam Riau, proudly hosts the 1st International Conference on Agricultural Strategy for Sustainability (ICASS 2024), under the theme: “Agricultural Transformation in Achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).”

This conference serves as a platform for academics, researchers, students, and practitioners to present findings, share ideas, and discuss strategies to accelerate agricultural transformation in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
